It all started about a year ago. The Good Mothers, the Anglo-Italian series based on the eponymous book by journalist Alex Perry, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, winning the inaugural, and thanks to budget cuts one and only, prize for best new series at the festival’s TV sidebar, the Berlinale Series. Roughly twelve months later, the show, produced by House Productions and Fremantle-owned Wildside, which is currently airing on Hulu, and on Disney+ outside the U.
When “Malcolm in the Middle” first aired in 2000, it quickly became a beloved sitcom for its quirky humor and relatable portrayal of family life. The show followed the gifted yet troubled Malcolm and his eccentric family, including his overbearing mother Lois, dimwitted father Hal, and his brothers Francis, Reese, and Dewey. Reality star Edna Swart will be making her acting debut on Shortland Street in the coming weeks.
The 32-year-old first hit screens on BossBabes on TVNZ+. She won over the country making the finals last year on TVNZ 2’s Celebrity Treasure Island and has appeared on TVNZ 1’s Give us a Clue. But acting is new to the business entrepreneur.
Swart will appear on Shorty as Kelsey Bowers, a soon-to-be single mother who works for a media company.
